I am a HUGE project runway. I love seeing the designers being pushed out of their comfort zone to create a jaw-dropping look. However, I find myself fast forwarding through the “Candy Couture” episode and stopping at the runway show. Why? This season’s designers are annoying. Sure, they are innovative, but their personalities degrade their craftsmanship (at least in my eyes). Every season there are a good handful of obnoxious designers, but season 10 takes it to a new level. Some adjectives to describe this season’s designers are loud, eccentric, and insane. So far I only like two designers.
The unconventional challenge is usually the most fun to watch, but I was cringing through the episode. That was when the fast forward button became my best friend. Although I didn’t enjoy watching the majority of the episode, I have to say that the runway show was exciting. My favorite outfits were from Sonjia, Fabio, Christopher, and Ven.
Twihards need to take a chill pill over the Kristen Stewart scandal. It is not the end of the world. There are more important things to be frustrated about in the world. Say poverty and hunger? I’m just kinda baffled how Kristen made an announcement stating that she loved Robert, yet she cheats on him. Some way of showing her love huh?
Watching this show always reminds me of how talentless I am and tonight’s episode basically rubbed it in my face! There were some great acts and not so great ones. I am going to start out with my top three acts then talk about my bottom three acts. I always get shivers when I see Eric Dittelman walk out on the stage. How the hell does he know what people are thinking of? It makes me wonder if he already knows the winner to the competition or not… Another favorite of mine is William Close. Wow. He knows how to put on a show. I would actually pay to see him live, so I can take in the beauty of the earth harp. My last favorite is Joe Castillo. He creates stories out of sand! Too cool. Now to the worst acts. Horse. Horrible stage name. Can you imagine a show centered around a guy getting kicked in the balls in Las Vegas? No. Ulysses. How could the judges allow this guy to make it this far? I am sorry, but someone with more talent could have used his spot. Say Andrew De Leon? I do feel horrible for the guy because he looked like he was going to bawl after listening to his critique from the judges. David “The Bullet” Smith. After seeing this act one time, it becomes boring. A guy shoots out of a cannon. What more else is there?
Everyone is talking about the horrific massacre that occurred in a movie theater in Aurora, Colorado, so I thought that I would share my input on it. While reading through hundreds of comments on a news article, one man used the Joker’s infamous quote to describe the shooting. “Some men just want to watch the world burn.” It took a couple of minutes for this sentence to settle in and make me realize how true that statement is. There are sick individuals who get pleasure out of terrorizing innocent people and James Holmes is one of them. Obsessed with the Joker, he adopted his idol’s merciless nature and decided to ruin an outing for a room full of people. To claim the lives of unsuspecting moviegoers who were confined is just cruel. With almost zero chance of escaping, they were forced to duck and cover while this madman fired rounds of bullets. My heart goes out to those who were in the shooting and I pray that nothing of this magnitude will occur again.
This movie was not as great as the one with Tobey Maguire. There were three things that irked me. First, Peter uses a device on his wrist to shoot webs. What? He receives other abilities from the spider bite, but he can’t shoot the webs himself… Second, the effects that transformed Dr. Curt Conners into the Lizard were cheesy. I didn’t buy them. I would have much preferred watching Spider-Man battle it out agains the Green Goblin from the first film than see this wannabe Godzilla. Lastly, there was zero chemistry between Peter and Gwen. Don’t get me wrong. I am all for Andrew and Emma in real life, but their relationship in the movie did not work for me.
*No spoilers ahead*
I came home from a private screening of The Dark Knight Rises about an hour ago and my mind is still reeling from this action packed movie! You may question the movie’s length of 165 minutes, but I guarantee you that you will be engrossed in the movie. It is hard to turn your eyes away from the screen even for the briefest moment to check your phone for the time because there is so much to take in. The superb acting, jaw-dropping scenery, and HUGE twists will leave you wishing the movie would never end. There are actually some humorous lines, which I appreciate. They were good to lighten the dark mood of the movie. I will admit that I was hesitant about Anne Hathaway being casted as Selina Kyle, but she was alright in my opinion. Not good, but not bad. There were some parts where she is trying too hard to be the sexy, mysterious Catwoman. Now for the ending. One word to sum it up: wow or what. As usual, Christopher Nolan’s movies end in a way that have you moving forward in your seat and staring at the credits screen for a long time. What a way to end a trilogy!
